BOOKS

Some of our writing has been in print for several years. We decided, since we owned the copyrights, we would make the books available at bigarade.com. In some cases, like A Cook's Tour of Tucson, the book has been completely rewritten for the Web.

A Cook's Tour of Tucson in its 2004, 3rd edition. This guide was first produced in 1992 in a bound version. Any guide to sources for ingredients and other things relating to the table must be revised from time to time, since shops open and close. An updated Web version of A Cook's Tour of Tucson makes much more sense and makes it possible for us to be (relatively) up to date.

The Cookbook for Bill and RebeccaThis 600-plus-page book was written by Madge Griswold for her children when they were in college. They asked that she write down some of their favorite dishes and give them some guidance. The book was first produced using a very early, primitive computer document preparation system. In 1989 we converted it to a contemprary desktop publishing program. The version shown here was recently converted again to be compatible with current software. It was an "interesting" and somewhat hair-raising experience as we watched files occasionally start to disintegrate before our eyes. But we won.)

At last! To Begin With ... A little bit smaller than The Cookbook for Bill and Rebecca, this volume was written for intelligent individuals who find themselves out in the world and haven't learned how to cook. It is neither "dumbed down" nor pretentious. Searching for fine-quality ingredients and then cooking them is fun. And it is not beyond the skill of anyone interested in doing it. The book contains foods that can be cooked quickly and some projects are more appropriate for weekends or special occasions.
